CURRICULUM DESIGN
Every teacher is a teacher of SEND
Our approach to the programme delivery of SEND has been informed by practitioner expertise. Working closely with colleagues from a SEND background we have developed bespoke sessions, for example on, broad areas of need, role of the SENCO and the graduated approach. Our subject knowledge and pedagogy sessions explore these areas further using exemplification from a subject and phase perspective. Giving you the confidence to teach children from across a range of abilities and needs.
Trainees
As well as equipping trainees to effectively support the needs of pupils with SEND, it is vital that trainees who might have a special need themselves are also supported. We actively work with trainees to ensure they have access to reasonable strategies, adaptations and support for specific needs. In the case of a disability, we will always ensure that reasonable adjustments are made to remove barriers that prevent an individual from full participation.

Anna Leaman
CURRICULUM DESIGNER
Teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) involves supporting learners to access a mainstream curriculum taught in English. For those learners, English is not their first language – they are acquiring proficiency in the language while also learning subjects through English (Robert Sharples, 2021).

Through our programme we provide you with an introduction to the fundamentals needed to support EAL learners in your classrooms, including examples of quality practice from a subject and phase perspective.
