Safeguarding Commitment

SWIFT Teacher Training is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children.

All applicants will be subject to the requirements of safer recruitment checks appropriate to the post.
This includes checks with past employers, an online check of publicly available information, identify verification, and an enhanced disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service with barred-list information.

Safeguarding Training

All trainees will complete Hays Level 2 Safeguarding training prior to the start of the course.

During the SWIFT Start induction, trainees complete Level 2 Safeguarding training as part of the training curriculum and they return to these themes over the duration of their training as they are threaded throughout the course.

Trainees also receive further safeguarding training bespoke to their placement schools as part of their orientation at the beginning of both their short and long placements.

Safeguarding Team

If trainees have any safeguarding concerns whilst at placement or in their Intensive Training and Practice (ITaP) school, they should contact immediately the School's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

If they are unsure, or want advice, or have a concern about another trainee or member of the SWIFT Team, they should contact:

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) |
Martin Smith
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) | Andy Goodwin
